“Goals without standards are empty.” - Ed Mylett
Goals create energy in us. It’s a sense of hope that change is coming. Without some form of goal-setting, we wander around aimlessly. When we secure that new idea, plan, or vision, we see so much possibility for ourselves, our health, our family, and our future.
Standards are actually what make the goal possible. Standards are the manual that guides us down the path to our goal. They keep us going the distance. Standards create the ability to remain committed, to be disciplined daily, and to refuse to give anything less than the best in all that you do.
What are good standards to follow? Really, that is up to you. I follow the Bible’s standards. In business I also have a few mentors that I learn from and watch closely. In self -development, I have leaders that I believe in and I grow from. In health, I for sure trust someone who walks the walk and doesn’t just talk the talk.
To me quality standards to have are:
1. Being on time.
2. Always showing up.
3. Quiting is not an option.
4. Give your best to everything you do.
5. Believe in yourself.
6. Support and encourage others daily.
7. Commit to quality work always.
8. Don’t expect a free ride. Work for it.
9. Hear from God as you take next steps.
10. Learn from your mistakes.
Set your goals high. Who cares if you miss? Keep trying for them. Everyday is a new chance to chase your dreams. God bless you as you keep fighting strong.
